JUNIOR ACHIEVEMENT
Inspiring the Next Step: Turning Career Exploration into Engaging Video Content
Project Background
Junior Achievement is known for preparing young people for success in a global economy through experiential learning. As part of their JA Inspire initiative, they introduced a new resource designed to help 8th–12th grade students explore career pathways and better understand where their interests align.
To bring this resource to life, they needed a video strategy that could engage students in a way that felt relevant, accessible, and motivating, meeting students where they are while guiding them toward where they could go.
“The value isn’t the finalized videos. But the way that VSS stewarded us through the entire process was so pivotal to me. We felt comfortable and confident, going into shoot day.”
– Wes Taylor, Development Officer, Junior Achievement of Central Ohio
The Challenge
Career exploration can feel overwhelming for students, especially when options are presented in abstract ways. Junior Achievement needed content that would simplify complex career pathways while still feeling engaging and relevant. At the same time, the project required capturing a large volume of content from a diverse group of industry professionals, many with little on-camera experience, all within a limited production window.
The Solution
Video Story Studio developed a structured production approach to support both scale and storytelling. We created a clear scripting framework, built a detailed recording schedule, and guided 22 participants through a mix of interviews and scripted segments in one day of recording.
An on-site editor helped shape the narrative in real time, ensuring strong, cohesive storytelling across all content. The final deliverable included 27 videos, featuring short-form, TikTok-style segments highlighting 16 career clusters—making the content engaging and familiar for students.
The Results
The project delivered a scalable video library that Junior Achievement can use across its programming:
- 27 videos produced, 16 career clusters highlighted, 22 participants captured in one day
Beyond the deliverables, the process built confidence within the team. As one stakeholder shared, the structured approach helped “boil down” key messages and made the team feel fully prepared for production
